Buen Fin 2025: A key boost for cybersecurity

Every year, El Buen Fin attracts millions of consumers in Mexico, and 2025 was no exception. From November 13 to 17, in addition to discounts, the main focus was on strengthening cybersecurity during El Buen Fin, due to the rapid growth of e-commerce.

The increase in digital transactions created an environment more exposed to fraud, information theft, and identity theft.

According to industry reports, around 80% of internet users in Mexico planned to make purchases during the event, and a large proportion planned their purchases in advance, reflecting greater use of digital platforms.

As more consumers make transactions over the internet, the risks also grow. Digital protection specialists insisted on basic but essential practices: verifying that sites have secure connections, avoiding repeated passwords, checking reliable payment methods, and being wary of advertisements or discounts that do not have verifiable commercial backing.

These types of recommendations do not only apply to Mexico. Countries with similar shopping events, such as Black Friday in the United States, show that cybercriminals often take advantage of increased digital traffic.

These scenarios serve as a reference for strengthening cybersecurity during El Buen Fin and anticipating fraud tactics that have already been detected internationally.

Companies: digital responsibility during periods of high demand

During El Buen Fin, it is not only shoppers who need to be careful. Companies that sell online also have a crucial role to play in protecting personal data. Technology firms such as Ikusi (directly related to the issue) emphasized that digital security has become an essential component in maintaining customer trust.

Its director in Mexico, Gustavo Valdez, commented that threats depend not only on technological infrastructure, but also on user habits.

Therefore, organizations must strengthen their systems by considering human vulnerability and promoting a more conscious digital culture.

He also stressed that cybersecurity should be seen as an ongoing strategy, not just a response to attacks. During periods of high transaction volume, such as El Buen Fin, this approach becomes even more relevant.

A 2025 marked by more demanding consumers

Shopping habits have also evolved. Most participants combined in-person and digital channels, forcing companies and retailers to improve their security processes at all points of contact.

For users, the biggest challenge was distinguishing between genuine promotions and scams designed to capture sensitive information.

For companies, the challenge was to secure the entire customer journey: from browsing the website to payment and product delivery.

Data protection, transparency in transactions, and efficient after-sales support have become key elements in building trust in an increasingly demanding digital environment.
